Nineteenth century Europe was a dramatic time filled with many rapid political, economic, social, and intellectual changes. Many new ideas such as Social Darwinism and a strong sense of nationalism led to revolts and revolutions. One major change that helped shape the world as we know it know was the Industrial revolution which brought about many new technologies and ideas. Even with all the good brought about by some of the changes during this time, it negatively impacted many throughout Europe. Conditions worsened both at home and at work for some while the rich minority and large corporations prospered. We can see during this time how events occurring in Europe shaped how authors wrote based on their emotions; Romanticism, and Realism are both new writing styles that emerged during this timer period. With technology becoming more advanced, the World was even more connected than before allowing for a constant transfer of ideas and the arts.
